Motor Development

It amazes me how much I have learned from my motor development class this semester. I had never realized how similar children are as they are learning a new skill. For example, we watched some videos of young elementary aged students throwing a ball it was neat to see how the majority of them all had the same immature pattern when attempting to throw simply because they have not been taught otherwise and have not been given enough practice opportunities to refine this skill. This pattern seemed to be true for all of the fundamental movement patterns we have looked at thus far and before this class I may have never realized.

  1. Motor Development with Lynn is such a Great Class to take! I really like how we go into detail when learning all the stages children go through. I now know there is an initial stage, elementary stage, and mature stage to everything we do. I've also learned that some people may never reach the mature stage in certain activities, while some may reach it at a young age. You learn what children think, how they act, and how they perform different movements and why it is being performed that way. It's a must class if you plan on working with children.
